Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese Balls
These Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese Balls made with our Lactose-Free Mozzarella and Lactose-Free Extra Old Cheddar have all the flavour and comfort of mac and cheese packed into crispy, bite-size balls. Easy and fun, they’re perfect for snacking and school lunches.
Recipe Ingredients
Macaroni & Cheese
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 2 1/2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 3/4 cup Paradise Island Lactose-Free Mozzarella, shredded
- 1 1/2 cups Paradise Island Lactose-Free Extra Old Cheddar, shredded
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Mac & Cheese Balls
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 3 cups macaroni & cheese
- 2 cups Panko bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
Recipe Directions
Mac & Cheese

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and cook for 1 minute.

Add 3/4 cup of milk into butter mixture and stir to combine.

Add remaining milk and mix again before adding water.

Add macaroni and stir often as it cooks for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens and the macaroni is cooked.

Remove from stove and stir in the cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Mac & Cheese Balls
- Ensure Macaroni & Cheese is firm by placing it in the fridge for a few hours.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium/high heat.
- Using a small scoop, form Macaroni & Cheese into balls, dip in egg mixture and cover with panko bread crumbs.
- Cook in vegetable oil for 3-4 minutes.
