Recipe Ingredients
- 12 slices of bread
- 1 lb. ground beef
- ¼ cup onion, chopped
- ¼ cup bell peppers, chopped
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. mustard
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 3 tsp. brown sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- Butter
- Paradise Island Mozzarella or Lactose Free Mozzarella, grated
Recipe Directions
- Brown ground beef, onion, and peppers in a medium skillet over medium heat. Drain off excess liquid.
- Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Butter 1 side of each of the 12 bread slices. Prepare sandwiches by topping one bread slice with sloppy joe mixture and grated cheese. Top with another bread slice, ensuring both buttered sides are on the outside of the sandwich. Continue for remaining sandwiches.
- In a panini press or frying pan over medium heat, warm until cheese is melted and sandwiches are crisp and golden brown on both sides.
